Thank you to all the Inspirational Leaders in my life!

My motto is if I take enough photos of myself next to smart & amazing people, some of it will rub off on me!

Victoria Maizes, MD & Andy Weil, MD

My graduation from the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, 2010I owe HUGE gratitude to Dr. Weil for being a pioneer. He has made it easier for all of us in medicine to find our paths. He shifted an entire industry within his lifetime really – brave is my word for Andy! And thank you to Dr. Maizes & her razor sharp intellect that keeps Integrative Medicine (IM) on the cutting edge of healthcare!

Tieraona Low dog, MD & I at graduation from the IM fellowship

She is absolutely amazing and my total hero!

Ann Marie Chiasson, MD & I during residential week of my IM fellowship

Ann Marie is absolutely magical! Yes, I know I look a little rough in this one. Early morning meditation and no shower!

Sherwin Nuland, MD & I at TEDMED 2010

Meeting Dr. Nuland made me cry. His book How We Die touched me so deeply and completely changed the way I viewed medicine. It also showed me how sacred the ritual of death can be if we allow it to be. I highly recommend reading all of his books!

Patch Adams, MD & I in Russia 2007

Traveling thru Russia with Patch Adams and a group of people from all over the globe was, to say the least, life changing for me. We went to orphanages, hospitals and mental institutions. What I learned from Patch is just how easy it is to change the energy of a situation around…with a smile, a red nose, and a silly gesture;scared, sick kids and their parents come to life with laughter!

Maggie Doyne & I at The DO Lectures, 2012

If you do not know about Maggie Doyne you are missing out! This girl is such a humble inspiration! She runs an orphanage in Nepal and then started a school that is changing hundreds of kids lives, especially the girls who would otherwise have nowhere to turn. She won the Forbes Excellence in Education Award in 2013 at the mere age of 26! Her non-profit is BLINKNOW.ORG. Please visit her website and read about a young woman who has her priorities straight and is truly living a life of service!

David Katz, MD & I in Charlotte 2014

Dr. Katz is one of the most prolific writers, researchers, and pioneers of nutrition of our time. He works tirelessly to bring healthy eating to the masses in easy, affordable ways. And he holds a special place in my heart because he is an avid equestrian!

Laura Pridemore, MD, Anna Maria Clement, PhD & Brian Clement, PhD & I

Anna Maria & Brian Clement are Co-Directors of the Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, FLA. They do incredible and inspirational work based on what Hippocrates told us over 2,000 years ago, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

Bridget Bongaard, MD & I 2014

My beautiful and wonderful mentor Bridget! Her support has been invaluable to me both personally and professionally and I cannot thank her enough!

Russ Greenfield, MD & I at Drumstrong

The father of integrative medicine in Charlotte! Russ has been my mentor since residency and he led me to the integrative medicine fellowship. I am eternally grateful for his guidance and support and for being one of those people who makes you feel like you can conquer the world!

Jean-Ronel Corbier, MD & I 2013

Jean-Ronel is the closest thing to an angel on earth that I know! He is a brilliant pediatric neurologist in Charlotte who takes the biomedical approach to kids with autism and other neurologic issues. He is such an inspiration and a godsend to the families of the children he takes care of. Thank you for all you do Jean-Ronel!
